چکیده

in order to study the characters affecting grain yield of lentil, a randomized complete block design with three replications conducted at dryland research station of northern khorasan (shirvan) in year 2002-2003. during the growth season and after harvesting, number of days to emergence, days to 50 percent flowering, days to maturity, number of primary and secondary branches, small and big diameters of seed, plant height, number of grain per plant, total grain weight per plant, 100-grain weight, biomass, harvest index and grain yield were recorded. a suitable model for grain yield was formed by multiple regression (forward, backward and stepwise). finally, the correlation between the remaining characters in the model was divided into direct and indirect effects by path analysis. the results indicated that the number of grain per plant (with a direct effect of 1.591) had the most effect on grain yield. the direct effect of plant height and biomass was positive. genotypic correlation of 100-grain weight and grain yield was positive and significant (p< 0.0l).
